John 15:4

I recently had an opportunity to completely set aside the world for 72 hours and completely open myself to God. During that 72 hours I experienced the full magnitude of the love God has for us. Completely immersed in God's love I was brought into a state of perfect peace and communion with the Holy Spirit. It was truly a blessed experience. Now that I have returned back to the world it has become clear to me that if I am not vigilant I am in danger of being distracted by the great onslaught of Godlessness which is our main stream society. Distracted from my peace and communion with the Holy Spirit which is so critical for living my life according to God's will. Jesus said in John 15:5 "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." You've heard the expression "garbage in garbage out" well that is what I think of when I read this. Jesus wanted us to know that if we do not maintain that communion with the Holy Spirit and constantly choose to remain in God's will we will not be able to bear fruit. We need to stop and think about what we are letting in. Is it of God? Are we letting garbage in? In my mind I imagine myself as a vine and the garbage I let in as trimming sheers snipping away at me. We have to physically live in this world, but we do not have to let the garbage of this world live in us. By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ we can have the Holy Spirit dwell in us!! So let's all be more intentional about what we let in so that we can experience the richness of a Spirit filled life!!!!
